‘Country’ in Sunday School Chronicle

“Andover Congregational Sunday School - On Monday March 11th, the teachers of the above school invited the scholars to tea in the schoolroom, to which a large number responded. After tea the parents, scholars, and friends assembled to hear a lecture from the Rev. S. Chinn, of Alton, illustrated by an excellent magic lantern. A number of pictures were thrown on the screen of the 'Life and Customs of the Hop-Pickers', and the humerous description of their sayings and doings by the rev. gentleman who has laboured amongst them for twenty-five yeras, made the evening very interesting. At the close the hearty vote of thanks was given to Mr. Chinn for his interesting lecture. The pastor Rev. J. G. Layton presided.”
