“Rye. - Congregational Sunday School. - On Tuesday, January 10th, the scholars received their New Year's treat. About 150 sat down to tea in the above school-room, and afterwards adjourned to the church, accompanied by a large number of parents and friends, where a magic lantern entertainment had been provided for them by Mr. Watt, of Hastings. The subject of the slides was 'Old Hastings and Smuggling Times eighty years ago,' also 'A Cheerful Chat in an Artist's Studio.'”
