“Sheffield - John-street Primitive Methodist Sunday School - A grand conversazione was held on Tuesday, Nov. 2nd, which was opened by his worship the Mayor of Sheffield, Alderman Pey-Smith, and there were also present Aldermann Clegg, Mr. J. C. Clegg, Councillor Skelton, Mr. H. Adams, and Rev. J. Gair. Afterwards followed a pleasing lecture on 'Phrenology,' by Prof. Hatfield of Bradford; another on 'A Day in New York,' and 'Our English Cathedrals,' illustrated by the lime-light by Mr. Forsdike. There were also experimental suprises in chemistry and electricity by Mr. T. G. Turten.”
