DANIELL, J.L. (fl. 1880s) – lecturer
“Bristol - On Monday evening, Jan. 22nd, the second annual teacher's soiree was held in the school-room and premises adjoining City-road Chapel at which about 400 friends were present. Tea and coffee were served from six to seven o'clock, after which the Rev. W. J. Mayers , the pastor of City-road, gave the teachers a hearty welcome, and delivered a short address on some of the qualifications necessary for a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Gould, president of the Union, also addressed the teachers. Microscopes and other scientific apparatus were on view during the evening, including a number of telephones, kindly lent by the United Telephone Company; these connected different parts of the building and were a great source of amusement. One part of the evening's entertainment consisted of an exhibition of dissolving views by the lime light apparatus belonging to the Union. Mr. J. L. Daniell, one of the vice-presidents, explained the various slides. The Sunday School Union Choral Society, conducted by Mr. E. T. Morgan, gave a selection of music during the evening, and all present seemed pleased with the evening's engagement. ”
