MAY, William R. (1835-1895) – lecturer
Sunday School Union – organiser
“Senior Scholar's Entertainment - On Tuesday evening last Mr. W. R. May, of the Royal Polytechnic Institution, gave an interesting account of recent events in South Africa. The lecture was entitled 'The Rising in the Transvaal,' and was illustrated by dioramic views. Some of the lecturer's political opinions respecting the Boer war were apparently not coincided with by a large portion of the audience. At the conclusion of the entertainment, Mr. Walters proposed, and Mr. Towers seconded, a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Mary.”
