BROWN, William (fl. 1880s) – lecturer
“Edinburgh - On Wednesday evening, the 15th inst., an illuminated lecture on the Holy Land and the Life of Christ was given in the church by Mr. William Brown, in aid of the Sabbath School library. The chair was occupied by the Rev. Dr. Main, minister of the church, and Moderator of the Free Church of Scotland. Besides the children there was a large attendance of the congregation and the public. The pictures, of which there were about seventy, were highly coloured, and were rendered exceedingly brilliant by the aid of the oxy-hydrogen lime-light. The lecture, which was well adapted for the children, was listened to with great attention by the audience, and at the close Dr. Main tendered a cordial vote of thanks to Mr. Brown. A handsome sum was realised for the library. ”
