“Thrapston, Northhamptonshire - A pleasant evening was spent by the teachers and scholars of the Baptist Sunday School, Thrapston, at a soiree held in the Corn Exchange on Friday, February 6th. After tea various objects of interest were provided for the children's amusement - mechanical toys, stereoscopes, an electric machine, a kaleidoscope, a printing pres, &c., &c. A printer was present to show every scholar how to print a card as a memorial of the event. Several musical pieces were rendered by the children, and the Rev. John Tyrell, of Woodford, exhibited some lantern views. A distribution of ornamental and useful articles brought the proceedings to a close.”
