CLARKE, Mr (fl. 1880s) – lecturer
Sandwich Congregational Sunday School – organiser
“Sandwich - The winter treats of the children of the Congregational Sunday School took place on Tuesday and Friday, January 27th and 30th. The infants on Tuesday, after tea, gathered round an enormous Christmas Tree, each receiving from the pastor, the Rev. T. E. Cushing, some useful articles, which had been presented by their teachers, the Misses F. Bradley, Ada Cotten, A. Cotten, and F. Woolnough. The scholars of the general school were entertained at tea on Friday, after which Mr. Clarke gave a short lecture with dissolving views, then those who had been successful in collecting for the London Missionary Society received prizes to the number of thirty-five. Short addresses were given by the pastor, Messrs. W. Griggs, H. Griggs, J. A. Jacobs, P. Worsfold, and the superintendent, Mr. W. Bradley, who defrayed all the expenses of both teas.”
