“Birmingham - The necessity for providing some healthy and instructive amusement for the elder scholars attending the school attached to the local Union has led the committee of the Birmingham Sunday School Union to enter into arrangements for holding a series of week evening entertainments extending over some six weeks. The programme was opened on Tuesday evening, Nov. 12, by a concert given by several friends connected with the Union, and was, we understand, well attended. The programme contains the following lectures, etc.: - 'How the Bible came to England,' by Mr. Councillor White; 'On Sound,' by Mr. Percival; 'The World We Live On' (illustrated with dissolving views); concert with readings, etc.; and a lecture entitled 'Round the World in Ninety Minutes.' A small charge is made for admission to ech of the series.”
