CROWTHER, J.C. (fl. 1870s-80s) – lecturer
Barnsbury Chapel Sunday School, London – organiser
“Barnsbury Chapel - Milner Square - The first dissolving view entertainment of the Sunday School, with new slides and lecture to illustrate 'Pilgrim's Progress,' was given here on Monday evening, September 30. The body of the chapel facing the screen, as well as the gallery, was quite full, and general satisfaction was expressed by all present at the rich treat afforded. The views were wonderfully clear, the disc on the screen measuring 20ft. in diameter. Hearty votes of thanks to the Sunday School Union, and to Mr. J. C. Crowther, for his admirable lecture, were given, after which several views of statuary, landscapes, and chromatropes, were given by the operator.”
