“Borough road Sunday Evening School - The last, for the winter session, of an interesting series of Wednesday night entertainments was held in the above school on May 1, which consisted of a magic-lantern lecture, the subject of which was 'Kindness to Animals,' given by the superintendent of the school. During the evening a vote of thanks was moved by Mr. Marsh (one of the teachers of the school), and seconded very nicely by one of the scholars, thanking the superintendent for the many pleasant evenings which he had been the means of giving them, to which he shortly replied. After some amusing subjects had been exhibited the meeting closed with the hymn, 'There is a land of pure delight.'”
