South Essex Band of Hope Union – organiser
“South Essex Band of Hope Union - A special meeting of this Union was held at Stratford on 4th inst., for the purpose of considering several alterations in the constitutions, which were necessitated by recent changes in the United Kingdom Band of Hope Union, which will cause a great increase in the work of Auxilaries in London and the suburbs. It was decided to extend the area of operations to the whole of the Parliamentary divisions of South Essex, and to alter the name to that of the 'The South Essex Band of Hope Union'. Means were also considered for raising a special fund for the purchase of a first-class dissolving-view apparatus for illustrating lectures and hiring out to neighbouring societies.”
