“Mansfield Street - (Borough Road, S. E. ) Band of Hope - At the third annual meeting, under the chairmanship of Andrew Dunn, Esq., the committee reported that the Tuesday evening meetings have been attended, on the average by 173 children and from twenty-five to forty scholars have attended the gatherings on Saturday nights. The competition in singing and reciting have proved a healthy stimulated the members in learning temperance selections, in prose and verse. Three dissolving view entertainments have been given, and the senior members have had three social meetings, as well as a trip into the country at their own expense. The commitee carry on their work in one of the schoolrooms belonging to Surrey Chapel.”
