“Forfar - Children's Soiree - Since the church was formed here, some three years ago, the pastor, Mr. Steel has by the blessings of God, been able to gather around him a people filled with spirit of earnest evangelism. The children's service held every Lord's day afternoon, by Mr. Mitchell, one of the deacons, assisted by several members of the church, is regularly attended by some 200 children. On the 6th of January, a soiree for the children was held in the large Reid Hall. Between 400 and 500, besides their teachers and friends were present. After a few words from Mr. Mitchell, addresses were given Mr. Arthur, teacher; Mr. Kay, of the Reformatory; near Montrose; and Mr. Grant, of Anstruther. The lives of Joseph and Jacob, illustrated by aid of the magic lantern, brought a very pleasant evening to a close.”
