“Tanner's Hill and Brockley Mothers' Missions - On Wednesday evening, April 7th, the annual meeting of the members and friends of the above mission was held in the lecture hall adjoining Lewisham High-road congregational church. At six o'clock an ample spread invited the attention of more than 100 parents who had responded to the invitation which had been issued. After doing justice to this part of the programme, the friends arranged themselves to witness the exhibition of a panorama entitled 'The Wonders for the World', and large reinforcements were admitted until the large hall presented a crowded appearance. At a few minutes after seven, Mr. Toone and, of the Sunday School Union, commenced a lecture descriptive of the above-mentioned panorama, and in a genial and happy manner called attention to the various forms of 'the marvellous,' of which the panorama afforded pictorial illustration. The lecture was enlivened by the narration of several anecdotes and the interpolation of musical selections, the latter being under the direction of Mr. Unwin. Mr. Walker occupied the chair, and offered a few words of comment at the conclusion of the lecture, and with hearty votes of thanks to the lectuere, Mrs. Hall, and Mrs. Harris, which were responded to by Mr. Toone and Mr. Hall, the meeting was closed by the Doxology and the Benedection.”
