“Howgate Evangelistic Mission - Under the auspices of the above Mission, a social meeting was held in Howagte U. F. Church on the evening of Saturday, 13th Dec. The attendance was excellent, over 300 adults and children being present. The Rev. John G. Taylor, M. A., Minister of the Congregation, and President of the Mission, occupied the chair. Tea was served at the outsetand a programme of quartettes, solos and recitations, was ably rendered by Mission Workers and Friends. The proceceedings were varied by selections on a powerful photograph kindly lent by Mr. Stewart, an address by Mr. John Davidson, travelling Missionary of the Scottish National Sabbath School Union, and a special address to the children, with lantern illustrations, by Mr. W. G. Bruce, Secretary of the Band of Hope Union. The customary votes of thanks were proposed by Mr. D. H. W. Gunn, and cordially awarded; after whcih Mr. Taylor closed a very enjoyable meeting with the benediction. ”
