“Greenock Sabbath School Union - A meeting of Executives committee, superintendents, and delegates was held on Tuesday evening, 15th October, when a report of Scottish National S. S.Convention was given by Mr. Dugald Clark, one of the delegates who represented the Union. An interesting discussion on some of the more important subjects dealt with at the Convention followed. Regarding the closing of Sabbath schools during the summer months, it was almost unanimous opinion of the meeting that the schools should not be closed during any part of the year. It was intimated that a course of lecturers for Teachers had been arranged as follows: - (1) In the West Parish Hall on Monday, 11th Nov., by Rev. William Ewing, B. D. Glasgow. Subject - Oriental Illustrations of the Bible. (2) In the EU Church, on Tuesday, 10th December, by Rev. Andrew Ritchie, M. A. Subject - 'A Trip upon the Nile' with lime-light illustrations. (3) In Union Street U. F. Church Hall, on Tuesday, 21st Jan, by Rev. W. L. Robertson. M.A. Subject - Palestine. Each evening at 8.15 o'clock. (4) In Wellpark U. F. Church, on Sunday evening, 23 Feb. at 7 o'clock, by Rev. William Ewing, B. D., Glasgow. Subject: 'Jerusalem, the City amd its HIstory'. About 900 boys have joined the Baden-Powell Boys Anti-Smoking League, and have received the certificate of membership issued by the Greenock Union.”
