RENFREW, Mr (fl. 1900s) – lantern operator
Stirling Sabbath School Teachers' Union – organiser
“Stirling S. S. Union - Children's Evangelistic Meetings - From Monday 7th to Friday 11th October, the Public Hall, St. Albert's Place was crowded nightly by Sabbath school children, parents and friends, when a mission was carried on under the auspices of the Stirling Sabbath School Teacher's Union. The special subject taken up was 'The Pilgrim's Progress', and this was done by means of a powerful lantern and really beautiful slides furnished by the Scottish National Sabbath School Union, the speakers being Messrs, Humphreys, Ross, Nimmo and Gillies, with Mr. Renfrew, the lanternist, Glasgow, one and all of whom used their best endeavours to make Bunyan's wonderful allegory real to the audiences, and suceeded in carrying the young people with them in the story of Christian's journey fromthe City of Destruction to the Celestial City.”
