“Anerley Band of Hope.-On Friday Evening, January 9th, the Rev. Walter Hobbs gave a Lecture in the Lecture Hall, Jasmine Grove, in connection with his Band of Hope. Richard Stapley, Esq., President of the Society, took the Chair, and introduced the Lecturer, whose subject was 'In the Snow; or, A Trip to Switzerland.' The Lecture Hall was quite full, and Mr. Hobbs’ address, which was illustrated by the very excellent dissolving views belonging to the U.K. Band of Hope Union, was apparently listened to with much interest by the numerous audience. The Chairman, after thanking Mr. Hobbs for the interesting and instructive Lecture he had delivered, stated for the information of strangers present, that the Band of Hope Meetings were held every Friday Evening, and that any children who were desirous of signing the pledge, would be heartily welcomed.”
