SHAW, Captain (fl. 1910s) – lecturer
Church Army Worcester I Van – organiser
“The Mayor's Support - It is just six years since the CA Worcester No I Van paid ist first visit to Bengeworth. A second visit has now been paid, with Capt. Shaw and Cadet Cormick in charge. We sincerely hope that it will not be six years before we see the Van in the parish again. In spite of the cold weather, the services have been very well attended. Old and young have thouroughly enjoyed them. The Missioners have done their very best to make the services bright, interesting, and above all, inspiring. The sick have been visited; also the inmates of the Union Workhouse. On the last night of the Mission, Capt. Shaw gave a Lanteren Lecture on the Work of the C.A., which was very much appreciated. His Worship the Mayor presided over a large audience. He said he had heard a great deal about the work of the C.A., but had no idea until that evening that it was so comprehensive. The Prison work interested him very much indeed. Through his visit of the van we able to increase the numvers of the Gazette. We feel sure the Missioners have been a blessing here, and we trust that God's Holy Spirit will go on to bless their efforts. A. L. H., Gazette Agent.”
