HILL, Captain (fl. 1910s) – lecturer
Church Army Norwich I Van – organiser
“A Sight Never Seen Before - The Norwich I Van has held a Fortnight's Mission in our parish of Stoke Ferry, wtih Capt. A. J. Hill and Mr. Scott in charge. All the Services were conducted in the Parish Church, our Vicar taking the Short Form of Service as used in the Church Army Mission Hymn Book, and the addresses were given by Capt. Hill. During the Mission, several Lantern Services were given, which were much appreciated, and the splendid pictures helped to send home the lessons through the eye as well as through the ear. On Friday the Farewell Service was held, with the slides of the Passion of our Lord, and at the close of the Service, while the slide of the Cruxificion was still upon the screen. Capt. Hill made an appeal to all who had received blessing during the Mission to come forward and receive a card in memory of same, and such a thing has never been seen before in our Church, when forty-five came forward to the chancel steps to receive them. ”
