DAVIES, Captain (fl. 1910s) – lecturer
Church Army Peterborough I Van – organiser
“Gripping - The visit of the Peterboro' I Van to Glapthorn, for a Fortnight's Mission has left a marked impression on the hearts of people. The Lantern and Mission Services have been splendidly attended, and the earnest, straight talks of Capt. Davies have gripped the hearts of the people. Though we have had terrible weather the last week, it has not made any difference to the attendances. On Wednesday the Captain gave an address of the Acts xxvi 19; the Spirit was with us, and the meeting closed with 'O Jesus, I have promised'. The affect was great upon all, and they were much moved. On Friday, the Captain gave his Lecture on CA Work, the room was full, some having to stand. The people were very much impressed, and were surprised at the work done by CA. The Mission closed on Sunday night with an overcrowded service, and the people were all sorry to say good-bye to Capt. Davies and his Cadet, Mr. Rogers, who worked so well with his Captain. R.O. for Capt. Davies.”
