GLEGG, Captain W. (fl. 1900s-10s) – lecturer
Church Army Hereford II Van – organiser
“Come Again Soon. The Hereford No. II. Church Army Van in charge of Capt. W. Glegg and Cadet J. Weeder, conducted a Fortnight's Mission at Putley. The Services were held in C. E. Schools each evening except Saturday, and consisted of Mission and Lantern Services, and in spite of the very unfavourable weather they were very well attended, especially the Lantern and Sunday Evening Services. The Addresses given by the Captain were most earnest and encouraging. The Lantern Pictures were exceedingly good and were much enjoyed by the people. Many Bibles, Prayer Books, Text Cards, &c., were sold among the parishioners. The Rector was present at several of the Meetings, and exhorted the people to make the Mission a means of better Christian living. The Farewell Service on the last Sunday was especially well-attended, and many Memorial Cards were taken in token of blessings received during the Mission. The Mission is over, but we hope the Van will not be long before it visits us again. A Well-Wisher.”
