HANKINS, Captain Edward (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
“Salehurst, Sussex, St. Mary's. Last Sunday evening, a good number attended the service held in the schoolroom. The Captain word (nicht lesbar) for his text, St. Luke vi. 38. 'Good measure pressed down.' A duet, entitled 'God is love' and a solo, 'In the secret of His presence,' we sung. The Captain has been holding open air lantern services among the hop-pickers. Last night he walked four miles across fields, in the rain, and held the service in a waggon shed, which was full. Lantern services have also been hald at Squib's Farm, and Hurst Green. The hop-picking is nearly over; we trust much good will result from the visiting in the gardens, distribution of tracts and GAZETTES, and services held. For Capt. Hankins.”
