HANKINS, Mrs (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
“Salehurst, Sussex, St. Mary's.-On Sundays, our Captain takes charge of the Sunday School in the morning, and also reads the lessons in Church at 10.30 and 3 o'clock. In the evening the National School is used for a C.A. Service. During the week our Captain visits the hop-pickers, distributing tracts speaking a kindly word, an inviting them to the service. Last night we held, at Salchurst Park, an open-air magic lantern service, throwing the pictures on a screen, 9ft. square. The subject was 'Mother's Last Words.' The Captain worked the lantern, and Mrs Hankins read the story. We believe God is blessing us, and we take courage. We are working for a Harvest Festival, a Service of Song, and a Concert and Bazaar, all to be held during october and November, for the benefit of C.A. work this Corps. Pray for us. Edward F. Hankins, Capt.”
