“Halifax, St. James's. - On Feb. 11th a farewell tea and meeting was held in the mission room, and the good company present was an evidence of the esteem in which Captain and Mrs. Rostron were held. Captain Thomas, who is leaving a neighbouring station, was also present, and gave a stirring address. There have been many expressions of regret on every side at the departure of Captain Rostron. However, we trust that Captain Lewington, whom we welcome this week, may be able to carry on and strengthen the good work which has been commenced. The mission-room was full last Thursday at the lantern service, the first of their kind held in this parish. As each picture was thrown upon the screen a few words were said either by the Curate or the Captain, and , we hope, not spoken in vain. (...) ”
