“'Painted Windows': A two week's mission has been conducted here by the Van under Capt. Blundy, the meetings being well attended, and thoroughly appreciated throughout. The mission opened with a service, in the vicarage room. On Monday evening, an introductory lecture was given, setting forth the extent of the Army's work, throughout the British Isles – its labour among the outcasts and fallen in London, and other great centres; its training and other homes, all of which were illustrated by maps and lantern slides, showing the evangelistic and social work. Another beautiful lecture was illustrated by lantern on Wednesday, the subject being upon 'War'. (...) Monday evening again openend with a lantern lecture, most beautifully illustrated and explained, given as a warning to all who indulge in the use of intoxicating liquors; a most touching lecture, the views revealing scenes from actual life. During the evening of Wednesday and Thursday, the scenes of our Saviour's life while upon earth were splendidly illustrated by lantern views, each scene being clearly explained by the evangelist. Children's services were held on Monday and Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m the life of Christ being explained and illustrated upon the sheet. (...)”
