“'A Van Harvest Festival': The Visit of Rochester Van for three weeks to this parish stirred up much interest (...). Night after night considerable numbers gathered around the van to hear the gospel message proclaimed by Capt. Anderson and his assistants. The lantern proved a valuable means of seeing forth the truth; the up-to-date pictures caught the attentionof the crowd (...). Special mention should be made of 'The Man in Khaki' who used his South African experiences in a gospel lantern address with much acceptance. The high water mark of attendance was reached on Septmeber 20th, when the Captain organised an open-air harvest festival. (...) When darkness fell, some four or five hundred people assembled for the lantern service, at which a series of pictures representing sowing and reaping were thrown upon the sheet. (...)”
