“'An Immense Change': A visit from Capt. Hanson is always an occasion for a popular demonstration among the members of the Church Army. He lectured beofre a very large audience in the Parish Room, recently, on the 'Work of the Church Army in the prisons of England'. The chair was taken by Mr. C.E. Bowles, J.P. Who spoke from his experience, as a magistrate, of the difficulty of dealing with that very class which the Church Army is trying to reach. Speaking of the immense change that has taken place in prison life, he alluded to the great work of such philanthropists as John Howard and Elizabeth Fry. Capt. Hanson illustrated the varied work of the Church Army with some excellent slides, giving a graphic account of his experiences as a missioner for the Church Army in the prisons of England. (...)”
