“'On Saturday, the 8th, at 4.15 p.m. a Birthday Party and Welcome Tea was held, when 90 church Army workers and friends partook of a splendid tea, provided and given by the workers, the proceeds of which were given towards buying material for the coming sale of work. (...) After tea, a most interesting lantern lecture on the late South African war was given by Captain Andrews to a crowded audience. (...)”
