‘Church Army Notes’ in Church Army gazette

“Life in a South African Blockhouse is notoriously monotonous, in spite of the supply of papers and magazines ent out. For some time past the Church Army has been sending out lantern slides to the military chaplains and others. These have been passed from blockhouse to blockhouse along the lines, and after the dusk the strange sight of an open-air lantern service or entertainment along the veldt is to be witnessed. The slides have also been much appreciated in the isolated garrisons all over the arena of war. ”
