UPHILL, Captain Henry (1875-1956) – lecturer
“'The Father From Headquarters': We have just had the pleasure of a visit from Capt. Uphill, who gave a most interesting lecture on C.A. work amongst the outcast and convicts. It was illustrated by a splendid collection of limelight views, giving a glimpse of the pathetic and heartaching side of prison-life, and deepening our love and sympathy for the grand work carried on by the C.A. The room was packed, and the people listened intently, and showed their appreciation of the lecture by their applause. The Rev. G. Ford, who presided, closed the meeting with a few remarks, and a collection was taken, which amounted to about sixteen shillings.”
