“'A Hot bed Of Loyalty': We have just said goodbye to Capt. Hargreaves, who has done good work in our midst for the last four months. By the kindness of Miss Vanderstgen we were enabled to hold meetings every Thursday and Sunday (...). The beauty and simplicity attracted a considerable number of people. One especially pleasing feature was the large number of young men present, who showed by reverent attention to the services their appreciation of the work carried on. The captain gave a lecture on Church Army work illustrated by a magic lantern, kindly lent by the vicar. This brought vividly before our minds the wonderful organization, the unceasing toil, and the endless variety of the Church Army's campaign. (...)”
