ROWLANDS, Captain Rowland (c.1855-1917) – lecturer
“'The Happy Little Welshman Among His Countrymen': An excellent lecture was delivered (...) by Capt. Rowlands, Pioneer Missioner for Manchester and Salford, on Church Army work in the slums, workhouses and prisons. (...) there was a crowded audience. The lecture was illustrated by a number of lantern slides, which were shown by Mr. D. J. Lewis; Great Darkgate Street. Capt. Rowlands, who is a native of the town, kept his audience interested thoughout, and his remarks were frequently applauded.”
