“'Don't Sneeze in the Church': (...) we had a visit from Capt. Gassick, of Luton, who gave an interesting lantern lecture. The children were admitted at 6.30 and adults at 7.30. The readings wre by Nurse Strirrup , and the attendance was very good. The first item on the programme was a humourous piece (...), then two very pretty illustrated poems and some scripture texts (...). After a few words by the captain about his police-court mission work; for which he had a collection, our vicar spoke in appreciation of Capt. Gassack's visit (...).”
