COX, Captain (fl. 1890s-1900s) – lecturer
Church Army Van (unspecified) – organiser
“'Not Ashes to Ashes': (...) our good friend Capt. Cox came over to give a temperance lecture in this little parish. He chose the beautiful and touching story of 'Little Jamie' which was illustrated by some excellent lantern slides; and the rapt attention shown by the audience proved that they warmly appreciated the earnest and thrilling narrative given in the lecturer's very best style. Indeed, we know, of old, that Capt. Cox never fails to win and keep the sympathetic attention of the listeners. (...) The collection for the C.A. amounted to 7s 11d and was handed to Capt. Cox towards the expenses of his Van, which is a familiar and welcome object in the parishes of North Hants. The little schoolroom was fairly full, about 60 being present. Interest in Church Army work is still alive and it is not yet with us , a case of 'ashes to ashes!'”
