“'To Heaven for Sixpence!' Chartham. - A most successful five weeks' mission was held here in Caterbury No. 1 Van, admidst many difficulties and great drawbacks. Previous to this, some five or six weeks had been spent successfully among the hop-pickers at Denstead, Chartham Hatch. Very few had ever heard of a C.A Van before, and had dropped from the clouds none could have been more surprised at its sudden appearance in our midst. The many lantern services were all well attended by most appreciative audiences, as also were the other mission services. 'The Torn Bible,' was givenn twice by request. Perhaps the largest number gathered when the lantern illustrated the story 'The Way to heaven for Sixpence,' which somewhat pleased the captain and Brother Clarke to feel thst so many in Chartham actually desired to know the way to Heaven. All praise is due to Capt. Goddard and Brother Clarke for their untiring energy and labour, working as they did with so little help. Their most earnest and soul-stirring addresse, especially that of the last evening will never be forgotten. All were sorry to part with them, and will be right glad when the time comes for their next visit. May God continue to bless their labours whereever they go. A Church Worker, for Capt. Godden.”
