STANTON, Captain , senior (fl. 1890s-1900s) – lecturer
“'Parochial Co-Operation.' Carlisle, ST. John's. - On Monday we had a good alod C.A. tea meeting, about 200 sitting down to tea. Our good vicar also sat down to tea with us, and we do thank God that we have got such a vicar here, for he is greatly interested in the Church Army. He expresses deep regret at not at present being able to take one of our Sunday night meetings, as he is without any curate; but he looks forward to doing so before very long. After the tea we proceeded to the hall, where a very welcome speech was delivered by the vicar, encouraging us on in the work. A lantern lecture was also given by our captain, subject: 'The Torn Bible,' and we believe it woll have a lasting memory i our hearts. God bless the C.A. in this parish, and at all places. For Capt. J.H. Stanton.”
