“'Solomon's Temple was not in it!' Woodlesford. - A successful Church Army Van mission, conducted by Capt. T. Smith, of No. I Ripon Van, was brought to a conclusion on Friday. The Van came to Rothwell in June last, and has visited each of the three parishes, and has been welcomed by many of the parishioners. The missioners have gone from house to house and have left bright thoughts, scripture texts, and good books on all sides, and hearty invitations to the services, which have been well responded to. Capt. Smith has varied the services sometimes by giving lantern lectures on Church Army work, sometimes mission services, with stirring gospel addresses and suitable hymns. The captain leads the singing with energy and vigour. What with earnest prayers and hearty singing, to the music of good old tunes that the people could sing, (it was really grand; Soomon's temple was not in it) no wonder that amid many regrets, they have left this district. Some who have attended the first services have also attended each week up to the time of leaving. God bless them and their work. We trust that they will visit us again before long. A.D.R., for Capt.
