BRITTAIN, Captain   (fl. 1890s) – lecturer

Reference
‘The Church's Holy War’ in Church Army gazette

“'Help those that are down.' Radcliffe-on-Trent. - The first Church Army tea was held here on Easter Tuesday, when 170 sat down to a substantial tea, which was afterwards followed by a lantern service of song, entitled 'Dying Saviour and the Gipsy Girl.' Capt. Brittain read the story emphatically, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Capt. Alcock desires to thank all who kindly contributed towards the tea, and all who so willingly gave their time in connection with it, and also thanking those kind friends who came over from Nottingham to help with the service of song. The proceeds were devoted to the Church's work amongst the outcast, which amounted the £4 4s. 5d. 'For Christ came to seek and to save that which was lsot.' 'Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of the least of these, My brethren, ye did it unto Me.' J.C., for Capt. Alcock.”
