GODDEN, Captain (fl. 1890s-1900s) – lecturer
“'Hope They'll come again!' Adisham, Kent. - I have very great pleasure in giving my testimony to the work done in this parish by the C.A. mission Van, under the direction of Capt. Godden, assisted by Brother Stones. During the two weeks' stay thirteen mission services were held, including lantern services and children's services. All were well attended, and notwithstanding some very inclement weather, the room was often quite filled. In addition to this almost every house was cisited. The brothers were well recieved, and the greatest interest was shown in the work of the mission. Many have spoken with thankfulness of the benefit they received, and I cannot doubt bit that good results will follow. The teaching was thouroughly sound, very simple and direct, both in urging the need of presevverance in holy living. The captain and his co-worker received many tokens of thankfulness and hospitality, and everywhere the wish is expressed that they may again find their way to the parish. J.H. Garr, Rector.”
