JEANES, Captain (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
Church Army Ely II Van – organiser
“'Wandering from home.' Eaton Socon, Beds. - We have had a visit from the C.A. Van 'Ely' II., in chrage of Captain Jeanes and his cadet - two very earnest workers for God. We had some very interesting lantern services indoors. The pictures thrown upon the sheet illustrated the beautiful story, 'Wandering from home; or, the wanderer's return'. Services were held every evening, and were very well attended. The addresses were listened to each day with eager attention, and many of Gods children were led to take a closer walk with Him. Others, we believe, were convicted of sin, and we trust not only convicted, but converted to God. On the closing night of our mission, the captain spoke from the words, 'So run that ye may obtain;' the words will be remembered by many who heard them. May God grant them every blessing in their work, and that they may be spared to come here again. A Friend.”
