“'A Lecturer From Prison': We were favoured during the past month by a visit from Captain Hanson (Church Army Missioner to Prison and Workhouses). He was in Nottingham conducting a Mission in Bagthorpe Prison, so he came to us and gave a Lantern Lecture illustrating how the Church Army takes persons from the prisons, workhouses, casual wards, & c and turns them into ratepayers. A number of concerts and lantern entertainments were given on Saturday nights by the Church Army friends , the attendance has been good. (...) The chief event of the month has been the Church Army tea, helf on Boxing Day, over 150 sat down (...). The Church Army choir sang different pieces of the Service Song 'Two Golden Lilies'. (...) Mr. Fisher manipulated the lantern and Capt. Brittain gave the connective readings. (...)”
