“HOP-PICKERS AND FRUIT-PICKERS IN MIDDLESEX AND KENT Our Evangelists are at work among the extremely mixed multitude, chiefly from London, engaged in these necessary operations: - Preaching the Gospel; purveying wholesome drink, oatmeal, lemonade; lantern entertainments; visiting the sick; all this over an area of three to five miles. Our Brethren's services are fully appreciated by the clergy with whom they work, and by the people themselves. The effects are seen in the improved conditions, moral and sanitary, under which these poor people live, compared with former times, and of spiritual results. We have only to rest in the promises, thank God, and take courage. W.A.C.”
