Church Army Van (unspecified) – organiser
“IN SPITE OF HARVEST Cardynham, Bodmin. - The Van visited us on Monday, August 29, staffed by Capt. Uphill and Cadet Bunker. Our first meeting was in the Board Schoolroom, and consisted of a Lantern Lecture on the Church Army work. The room was full, and the lecture instructive and interesting. [...] On Friday we had 'The Torn Bible,' beautifully illustrated by the Lantern, in the Board Schoolroom, and a sale of books and texts followed; the room was full and all seemed attentive and pleased. Sunday afternoon was chosen for an address to men in church, Capt. Uphill spoke earnestly to the 30 or 40 men assembled on the causes of St. Peter's fall, at 3 p.m., and after Evensong, a Lantern Service on 'The Lord's Life,' drew a crowded congregation. The results are in God's hands, but certainly - the visit of the Van seemed to rouse much interest, and we have no doubt that in its next visit it will receive a warm welcome. Charles J. D. La Touche (Rector).”
