Church Army Newcastle Van – organiser
“WARM WELCOMES Tweedmouth. - Curiosity gave place to interest as soon as the Van 'Newcastle' arrived here; and long before it left, nothing but admiration was felt for the work and the devoted workers, Capt. Smith and his Cadet, Bro. Poulton. Day after day brought its own work - the visiting, the sale of books, the Open-air Service in different parts of the Parish, followed by the indoor Meeting. Earnest and homely addresses, reverent Bible reading, with prayer and praise, proved very helpful and edifying. The Lantern Lectures, with their truly beautiful slides, were much enjoyed by old and young. Sunday evening Services at Ord were especially hearty and well attended. The Van left with the prayers of God's people. Capt. Smith and Bro. Poulton leave pleasant memories in the minds of those in whose hearts and homes they found a warm welcome, which will be all the warmer when they come again. A friend, for Capt. W. Smith.”
