“THE CHILDRENS' WISH Lambeth, Parish Church. - The four weeks' mission, conducted by Capt. Stephens, which ended on July 18, was a very happy time, and full of encouragement, both to the workers and people of Lambeth, who were much helped by the band of brothers who came down night after night to give the message of goodwill 'in the streets and lanes of the city.' Many were greatly blessed through Capt. G. A. Wood, who was the means of turning more than one heart to seek the Saviour. The Lantern Services were much appreciated, and the children were so delighted with their share of the mission, that they gladly brought their little contributions to help on the good work, and finally took matters into their own hands and told Capt. Stephens, on his last Sunday, that he really must come again, which wish is cordially echoed by the whole parish. A farewell tea was arranged on July 18, and Miss Carlile came and gave an address. The only thing that damped the pleasure of the gathering, was the sad consciousness that it was farewell, and 'What shall we do without our brothers?' was murmured from one Lambeth worker to another in very disconsolate tones. However, we all joined bravely in the chorus of 'God be with you till we meet again,' and from many hearts and homes in Lambeth goes up the earnest prayer of 'God bless the Church Army.' S. Moody, for Capt. Stephens.”
