Church Army Peterborough I Van – organiser
“A PRESENT TO THE VAN Dogsthorpe, Peterborough. - On the 13th May, a Meeting was convened by the inhabitants of Dogsthorpe and Garten End, in the Schoolroom of the former place, having for its object the presentation of lantern slides to the 'Peterborough' No. I. Church Army Van, under Capt. Scott, subscribed for by the villagers to commemorate the five weeks' Mission held in their midst, and to give expression of the people's deep sense of gratitude for the blessings received from the hearty and happy Services. The Rev. F. W. Robinson, Rector of the Parish, presided. He spoke of the great good done throughout the country by the Church Army. He was very thankful that the 'Peterborough' Van had visited his Parish, and had done so much good among his people. He then presented the slides to Capt. Scott. The Captain, in a few well-chosen words, thanked the people heartily for all their kindness, on behalf of the Society, himself, and brother, and appealed most earnestly to the kind friends present to seek God continually in prayer, and to work for His glory. The evening was then brought to a close by showing the slides, which were beautifully illustrated, by the lantern. The Rector then gave the Blessing. R. W., for Capt. Scott.”
