KING, Captain (fl. 1890s-1900s) – lecturer
Church Army Oxford Van – organiser
“Through two gates at once: The 'Oxford' Diocesan Mission Van has paid a visit to this parish, and been in the village a week, holding Services each night. They have had a very fair attendance, and great attention has been given to the addresses. Capt. King has been speaking wisely and faithfully to those present, and we look for fruit afterwards. The Lantern Services were much enjoyed, and the solemn truth of the Gospel was put before the people in a double way - by the eye and ear, and we believe will not be easily forgotten. On the Sunday, the schoolrool was quite full, and the evening Meeting was a time for quiet thought and reflection, as to who was their Master - Satan, or Christ.”
