WALLBRIDGE, Captain Frederick (1858-1929) – lecturer
“Help from the Labour Home: On April 1, we held a Magic Lantern Service in the Schoolhouse, given by Capt. Wallbridge, of the C.A. Labour Home at Oxford. The subject was, 'David Blake almost wrecked.' We had a fair attendance, everyone enjoyed the service; the slides were lovely and clear, and seemed so real; the story touched each one. We gathered 5s., and 5s. was given by the Vicar, to be given to the Labour Home. Capt. Wallbridge spoke at the finish on giving our lives to God. We may not want Him in sunshine, or when all is well, but when trial is near or temptation, or when death is staring us in the face, when our ground is slipping away, then we want the 'Rock of Ages,' God for our stay, God for our guide. Let us then put all our trust in Him, for He is able to keep us for evermore.”
